The Great Rescue

It’s a Daniel Day! For the last three weeks, I have been on a Safari through Daniel. A bloggy Bible study led by gutsy HisGirl, Amber. To catch up with my travels, click here. To catch up with my fellow trekkers just click on the picture.

I have to be honest with you. This week I didn’t spend much time in Daniel. However, I have spent many long, long hours and days and nights in the fiery furnace. The fire of cancer. The furnace of doctor’s offices. The flames of long telephone conversations with the insurance company. My fiery furnace.

See what I mean?

Just listen.

Lisa answered Cancer, “Your threat means nothing to me. If you throw me in the fire, the God I serve can rescue me from your roaring furnace and anything else you might cook up, O Cancer. But even if he doesn’t, it wouldn’t make a bit of difference, O Cancer, I still wouldn’t serve your gods or worship at your altar of fear, worry, panic and death...”

Suddenly Cancer jumped up in alarm and said, “Didn’t I throw one girl, bound and gagged into the fire?”

“But look!” Cancer said, “I see a girl and a man, walking freely in the fire, completely unharmed! And the man looks like a son of the gods!”

Lisa walked out of the fire.

All the important people, the doctors and nurses and insurance representatives, gathered around to examine her and discovered that the fire hadn’t so much as touched Lisa—not a hair singed, not a scorch mark on her clothes, not even the smell of fire on her!

"Therefore I issue this decree: Anyone who says anything against the God of Lisa will be ripped to pieces. There has never been a god who can pull off a rescue like this.

Daniel 3:16-18, 24-25, 27 & 29 (Lisa’s version)

Please continue to lift up my sweet college friend, Melinda. She had surgery for brain cancer this morning and is in ICU now. She is doing well and still has ability to talk and move which is a huge praise since the residual tumor was over her speech center and motor strip.

Still trying to meet insurance requirements of MD Anderson. I think I will have all I need when I receive a letter from my insurance company tomorrow afternoon. Please pray I can meet this requirement and be seen as early as Thursday or Friday.

Notice on my left sidebar I have put some prayer buttons. Please take some time to pray for these sweet ones struggling with illnesses. I will be adding others as I discover needs. If you'd like me to add your prayer button please leave me a comment. I just figured all of this out and I am excited to add your pictures and honored to stand in the fiery furnace with you.

I read this post and then I dreamed about you in the fire and you were dancing with the "Son of God" and you were wearing a pink shawl. I don't know why you would wear a shawl to a fire but you were happy and fierce all at the same time!

Girl, I thought of you so so often this week.

I shared your story with friends and asked for prayer and yes, I would consider curling up in to a ball and the way you wrote that passage? Wow!

I think God loves it when we use His word like that...put our names right.smack.in.the.middle. of those precious promises!

Keep on keepin on', Lisa..you are already rockin' it, honey! ;)

Did you have any clue that when you began this study, that you would be standing in your own 'lion's den'??

You are blowing us all away... you just keep STANDING!!! It is such a joy to pray for you so often through each day, praying for every detail... the right doctors, timing, insurance needs met, decisions, and for the hearts and minds of yor husband and children to be held and protected, and for you my sweet friend... for every good and perfect gift of God's healing and strength in this whole process. You are definitely shining with His truth!

Girl, I am so inspired and blessed by you. Aren't I supposed to be the one encouraging you??? :)

When I first read this post (I had to pause and take it all in), another hero of mine came into focus: Corrie ten Boom. I'm sure you've probably heard of her, but if you haven't, she'd be a great encouragement to you, in my opinion. She and her family hid Jews during the Nazi occupation in Europe. Her story is amazing. Very Daniel-esque in terms of faith thru the fiery furnace. I've read a collection of her radio devotionals, and she always ended them with "Hallelujah! God, what a Saviour!"

It is my PRIVILEGE to know you and to stand in the gap. xxxooo

Lisa, your life is such a testimony to God's love, mercy, and grace. Such a wonderful, uplifting, and powerful post.

As I prayed for you...I could hear God's voice whispering to you:

God: "I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you." (2 Kings 20:5)

And then I heard your spirit lift up words to Him in return.

Lisa: "The Lord is my strength and my song; he has given me victory."
(Exodus 15:2)

I am believing upon this vision that God has given me. I am believing it to be a vision of the victory in your life over cancer. He will use it ALL...for your good...and His glory.

Praying diligently...without ceasing,
Cherie

Lisa - I am praying for you now. If you ever need someone to chat with, even if just an email, I'm here. I'm a friend of Amber's and am seriously seriously rooting for you. I can also put you in touch with an author friend of mine who wrote Cancer is a Bitch. Excuse the language, but that's the title! Hang tough!

Precious Sister,

I am astounded by your amazing Faith, Trust, Hope and Belief in our Lord. I come here to pray for you and in the same breath He gives so much right back to me(us) through you. Oh you are a blessed one, a mighty warrior, one who walks in the fire with the Lord and yes, you come out unscathed, unharmed and ever more strengthened in your walk with Him. Oh what a testimony of true Faith you already are and I know there is much more to come for us to hear.

Almighty Father,

I continue to lift up Lisa to you and humbly ask that you bless her with all of the paper work that she has been waiting for to proceed with what needs to be done. I pray that as you have orchestrated every single step in this journey that it all falls into place by your amazing grace...that your peace, comfort, strength, guidance, tender mercies and security continue to lead Lisa and her family through this journey. As Lisa is walking through this fiery furnace with You holding your hand so do we as sisters and brothers in strong faith and belief in you in prayer and we continue to stand by her at all times...yes we stand and we fight the battle with her with our extreme faith, hope, trust and belief in You and only You.

Father, I ask that you bless Lisa's friend Melinda. You know everything about her. I ask that you continue to do amazing things in her as she just just got through her brain surgery this morning. Already she is talking and moving, praise your holy name. I humbly ask that you heal Melinda quickly, that her tissues and everything within her brain completely heal and be made whole once again, ever so vibrant and clear in the precious name of Jesus. Amen.

I love you Lisa.

Big Hugs,
Alleluiabelle
