We're Totally Tailgating

Come kick off Aggie football season with us. The Texas A&M versus Montana State game is Saturday (that's tomorrow), September 1 from 2:00 until ???whenever???

Limousine rides from the Keller Williams parking lot (across from Blockbuster behind the Bryan-College Station Visitors' Bureau on University) every 30 minutes from 2:00 PM until 11:00 PM (or one hour after the game is over).

Join The Smith Team in front of or on the west side of the Heep building on west campus for a HUGE tailgating par-tay!
Bring the kids, bring your friends, bring your dogs...if you're reading this, you're invited. Don't get left out. It's going to be fun.
We will be eating, drinking, watching TV, playing games, visiting, cheering for the home team and getting marooned.

Anyone who's anyone will be there. Join us this Saturday. Don't be sad if you can't come. We'll be there every Saturday before the home games having a blast.

It's soon to be the newest tradition in Aggieland. If it's done more than once at Texas A&M it becomes tradition so that means we're well on our way to becoming one. What an honor!

I promise you won't be disappointed!

You should come if you're an Aggie because well, you just want to because you've all tailgated and know how much fun it is. You should come if you're not an Aggie because it will make you want to be one. Seriously, Aggies are the best fans in the world and know how to put on a pregame party, a postgame party, a victory party, a celebration party, a consolation party...Aggies just know how to celebrate football season and fall is here...so, come on over to our tents and have a bite to eat. Say hello and let the kids run around a little bit.

(actual limousine not pictured)

If parking scares you, drive to the Keller Williams parking lot across from Blockbuster and The Smith Team limo will take you to tailgate in high style. Seriously, just show up and wait for the limo. If it makes you feel better and you are planning on taking the limo, you can comment here or call my cell (412-0443). I promise, you won't get left behind. We're ready!

See you there.

GIG 'EM AGS!!!

Happy B-Day Googs!

Today is Goo-Goo's birthday. I think it's her 93rd or is it 94th! (Am I the only who has a hard time keeping up?) Goo-Goo is Andrew's grandmother.

Goo-Goo has led an amazing life. I love to listen to her stories. She has survived many hard times in her life including wars and economic crisis.

Goo-Goo has also enjoyed many times of blessing. She inspires us to remember that life is filled with tragedy but the joy is always on its heels.
She is such a strong woman. She raised two little children without a clothes dryer, disposable diapers or video tapes. She has seen many things that make life a little less hassle invented.
She has made moves and readjusted to new cities in order to be near family throughout her different seasons of life. She has taken on many changes in the ten years that I have known her and done it all with dignity and grace.
She has such a wonderful relationship with her two younger sisters. They are all so close.
She has seen her three grandchildren grow up.
She has seen five great-grandchildren. The newest who is named after her. (We haven't met Miss Hazel Claire yet but hear she's a beautiful baby just like her namesake. More on the two Hazels in a future post!)

I love how my kids think any regal woman with white hair is Goo-Goo.

I love how they find sticks in the yard and instead of having sword fights, they walk with a cane and pretend they're Goo-Goo.

I love how one of the highlights of our lake trips is walking by themselves to Goo-Goo's house to fix their own ice cream.

I love the way Goo-Goo folds clothes!

I love to drink early morning coffee on Goo-Goo's porch.

I love the legacy that Goo-Goo gives us.

Happy Birthday Goo-Goo! We are so thankful for you! We love you!

Standing Tall

Hunter is standing a little bit taller today. He was so proud to have his new preschool teacher over for a visit yesterday.

Hunter's preschool teacher Mrs. Pam visited him at our home.

Mrs. Pam said, "Hunter, it's so nice to meet you."

Hunter said, "I already know you!" Hunter already feels like he knows Mrs. Pam because Alyssa had her for preschool too.

Hunter knows enough about Mrs. Pam to know that her class is fun and being in her class makes him big!

Andrew thought this was so super special...a teacher visiting you at home. He said in seventeen years of school no teacher ever visited him.

My preschool teacher Mrs. Wright visited me at my home. I still have a black and white picture in my baby book to prove it! I sure felt special.

It is definitely one of those moments in your life you feel super special, all grown up. The experience causes children to stand a little taller and smile a little bigger when they get out of the car on the first day of preschool.
Hunter loved reading her mouse story and playing with the squishy balls. He also met George and can't wait to bring him back to our house to spend the night.

Hunter is ready for school. His only complaint is that it only meets two days a week.

My Hunter Boy is growing up way to quickly!

Mrs. Pam came to give Hunter a personal invitation to the sunbeams' classroom party. We will go today to meet all of Hunter's friends.

Hunter, Mrs. Pam and all the sunbeams are sure to have an exciting year.

The Day of Kathryn

HAPPY BITHDAY TO YOU

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR KATHRYN

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

I am so thankful for your courage to follow the Lord.

I love watching how you've grown and changed this year.

I love your prayers.

You are a precious friend.

I love you!

Keller Who is Here?

In case you haven't heard...Keller Williams is here in College Station.

This phenomenal company came to town and opened up on August 16, Andrew's and my tenth wedding anniversary. How cool is that? That God would give us this fabulous gift that has brought us so close and given us hope in our business when we've gone through times with so little. We are so excited about our future with this company that has such awesome values...God, family, business. We love the people, many who are husband and wife teams like ourselves or mother/father/children teams like we hope to be one day as well.

We are so proud to be part of the KW family. This is a company who has a famous family culture. Going to a Keller Williams event is an experience that reminds me of the camaraderie and spirit of Fish Camp and the passion and zeal of Super Summer.

You're going to hear a lot about Keller Williams here! We are so pumped. We've never been part of a real estate company where agents SHARE their ideas with each other. We've never been part of a real estate company that PAYS THE AGENT passive income. We've never been part of a real estate company that will SUPPORT you financially, emotionally, physically if you get wiped out by a hurricane or cancer. As I said, you're going to hear a lot about Keller Williams here!

We just got back from MegaCamp. This is a week long event where every mega agent from Keller Williams comes together for training. Inspiration is always given freely at every event.

The training and support that Keller Williams offers its agents is second to none. In over ten years in the business and owner of a national franchise, we can certainly testify to the fact that if you are going to sell real estate, sell for Keller Williams. There is no reason to pass up the opportunity that the company offers.

We got literally hundreds of ideas here. We saw big, huge holes in our business and operations. We got anxious to revamp and upgrade. We got a little overwhelmed and tired too!

We also got incredibly inspired. We listened to numerous panelists who took their PASSIVE business, that is income made while doing something else other than making that income or income made from doing NOTHING, from zero to anywhere from $400,000 to $1.8 million in just six years. Wow!

So, let me ask the question, "How much has your broker given you this month?"

Anyway, as most of you know, I started working on The Smith Team in a more visible position in March. I set a financial goal comparable to a teacher's salary for the whole year. I am always comparing myself to a teacher, the teacher I used to be. I figured if I could do this by working part time and setting my own hours and saying yes or no on my own terms, I wouldn't have to teach again. I've done that in just under six months! Of course, now my goal is to double that during the nine months of school so that I can spend most days at the pool with my kids next summer...just like a teacher!

I say this to share about this amazing opportunity we have with KW. You can work from home (no scam), setting your own hours and do as much as you desire all the while earning passive income from the Keller Williams profit sharing model.

If you would like to learn more or take part in this incredible organization with Christian values, tons of training, great people, awesome support...the list goes on and on and on...talk to me today. My email is in my profile. Seriously, I work an average of ten hours each week and have experienced tremendous success. Don't get left out or passed up if you are thinking of real estate!

All About Alyssa

Happy birthday Alyssa!

Alyssa is having a wonderful day. She lept out of bed so she could open presents and eat her special birthday breakfast and open her gifts and cards that have been accumulating in a chair by the door for awhile now. She looks grown up and acts a well, a little more grown up than she did!

She'll get her favorite dinner of steak, corn on the cob and strawberries. It's going to be such a fun day!

Webkins are in style. She got five this morning! Her favorite is the pig which she named Oinky. She got a black lab, a hippo, a tiger and a chihuahua named the Aggie Angel. I can't hardly keep up with their names...the lab is named Inky, the tiger is Stripes and the hippo is Hippy. Julia has already traded Kate for Angel...c'est la vie!

She had a cupcake birthday party in her class and carried all her new Webkins to school. When she got out of the car this morning, she couldn't really remember where her first grade class was. I dropped her off at the big kids' spot. Julia was already running to class and Alyssa just looked so confused. One of the teachers helped her out. Such a cute and classic "Alyssa moment"!

When I went to her birthday party at school, all my fears and worries were laid to rest because "seeing is believing." It seems God has answered my prayers. She acts so mature and polite in class. She listened very intently to the teacher and seems to be living up to the very high standard in Ms. Lucio's class. I'm sure we're off to a positive start on a successful year.

Happy Birthday sweet angel!

Today you're six-years-old.

You fill our lives with love and laughter.

We pay more attention to the animals because of you.

You give us sweet hugs and kisses for no reason.

Cuddling with you is a favorite pastime.

Being silly with you is a favorite hobby.

We appreciate things that we never loved before you...like Zaboo and lemurs.

I love that you know more about the meerkat then most.

I love that getting muddy and dirty with a pig sounds thrilling to you...much more so than a ride on a big roller coaster.

I love that you think things are boring but you're really unsure because they're just...different.

I love that when I asked you about your first day of first grade, you thoughtfully replied, "well, it's a little different than I expected."

I love that we share a sameness that I can totally get even if nobody else can.

I love your generosity.

Someday you'll appreciate how I hid all your new school clothes so you wouldn't give them all to Julia instead of presenting you with them all at one time. really, you would just give them all away. I love that...so does Julia.

I love how you lisp now that you're missing a tooth. I can't wait for you to lose more!

I love how all your best friends are dogs.

I love how you love the Astros.

I love how you wish you could have more homework.

I love how you speak Spanish. you're so smart you interpreted Palmer's first word, "baca." cow in Spanish. Brilliant.

I love your organization. your spotless room. everything in its spot. I love how you're not a pack rat(except when you sleep in a laundry basket filled with trash and pretend to be one). When it's time to throw it out, you hold us accountable to take a load to Goodwill.

I love you little monkey girl. I love you.

Happy birthday sweet Animal Angel Alyssa.

Day One

Today was the first day of school. I am now the proud mother of a first-grader and a second-grader!

Last night we painted fingernails and toenails, showered, blow dried hair, laid out clothes, packed most of our lunches and backpacks, ate a nutritious dinner and all four kids were in bed by 7:30. I felt like I was in a movie. My house is not that quiet. My house is not that well-run. My house is loud with every light on until very late hours of the night. My house...was ALL quiet (adults included) by 10 pm.

We got up EARLY...Julia jumped straight up out of bed at 6:40 so I could roll her hair. What a grown up beauty she is, especially with her High School Musical gear!

Alyssa got up real quick too because she wanted to have time to eat cinnamon rolls. She was super happy this morning, look tall and proud in her school clothes carrying her Shrek backpack and lunch box. She is such a golden-haired cutie pie!

We made it to the school. There were still kids going inside the doors when we got there. We walked everyone to their new classes, kissed them goodbye and went to the gym for a good workout...I've had several today!

When we went through the pick-up line this afternoon, it suddenly started to downpour very heavily and Hunter and the girls got soaked. Kids like that. My car needed a good washing. It was an overall very good day. I like routine.

We're back!

A Perfect Ten

Ten years ago today, I married my handsome Andrew.

We've had ten years of loving.

Ten years of laughing.

Ten years of living.

We've grown comfortable.

We've grown patient.

We've grown close.

If I had my perfect anniversary celebration, I'd charter a private jet to whisk us away to our own private sandy, tropical paradise. It would be a beautiful private quiet island like Turtle Island.

We'd stay there laying on the beach while sipping exotic fruity drinks out of pineapples and coconuts. We'd be busy listening to waves hit the beach. We'd practice growing old together comfortably just being in each other's presence. We'd tan ourselves in the warm sunshine wearing as little as possible.

We'd stroll hand in hand barefoot on the darkened beach after enjoying a romantic picnic while watching the sun set over the ocean. I'd wear a beautiful, white flowy sundress to show off my golden tan and put a big pink tropical blossom in my hair. Andrew would have one of his loud and crazy Hawaiian shirts on that would make me smile.

That's my fantasy date, but...(record screeching)...halt...

I'm living real life...my real life.

A life full of love.

A life full of laughter.

A life full of children.

Children who require lots of attention.

A life with real schedules, real jobs and real responsibilities.

That's why I'll wait until this weekend when we're in Austin to celebrate.

Tonight I'll patiently wait for my man to come home from work. We'll rejoice with our four bundles of love, joy and laughter.

We'll put them to bed and sit on the couch. We'll cuddle up and watch something on TV like VH1's Top 40 Soft Rock Songs. We'll celebrate together the life we've been given.

I'll officially thank Andrew for his patience with me as I've learned what it truly means to be a wife, a helper and a lover to him.

...or maybe that jet is waiting!

First Tooth

In another animally escapade Alyssa lost her first tooth.

She recently discovered her tooth was loose.

She was scared.

She doesn't like blood.

She didn't know what it would taste like.

I'd been encouraging her to eat apples, steak, ice cubes and lots of other hard stuff.

She resisted.

Last Saturday she was "fighting" over a stuffed animal with Palmer. She was pretending to be a puppy. She was tugging on the stuffed animal...with her mouth.

She was growling, shaking and tugging with her mouth and head.

So true to Animal Angel character and in furry form, Alyssa lost her first tooth.

She likes telling people she lost her tooth almost as much as she likes telling them she did it by acting like a puppy!
...And she's extremely fond of the fact that her tooth looks like one of Foxy's.
